FIND ADVENTURE IN JACKSON HOLE

Skip FIND ADVENTURE IN JACKSON HOLE
Father and daughter riding the alpine slide at Snow King Mountain

When Mother Nature got to work on creating this landscape, she had some fun, resulting in some of the most dramatic topography on the planet, a lot of it created by the seismic movement and geothermal activity you can still witness at Yellowstone’s Old Faithful Geyser. The greater Yellowstone ecosystem provides breathtaking experiences and adventures for those seeking a wild time.

Our guides, instructors and camp-lore storytellers can give you the insider tips on the outside trek. When the snow is falling, the apline and Nordic skiers, snowshoers and snowmobilers come a-calling, with terrain that varies from training to world-class racing.

And not every season is freezin’, with wonderfully temperate springs and summers that are perfect for active adventures like fishing, camping, biking, river rafting and hiking. And, after exploring all the National Parks have to offer, try parking yourself at the spa. Ahhhh.

Snow King Hotel is your personal gateway to the great outdoors, no matter your age, interests or abilities. Biking, hiking, fly fishing, rafting and exploring the national parks to view wildlife in full flourish are just a few of the activities at your fingertips duirng a Jackson Hole summer. From cooking over the campfire to drifting down the river to watching the sunset color the mountains at day’s end, there is no place like your home away from home.

SNOW KING MOUNTAIN - ADVENTURE RIGHT NEXT DOOR

No matter how you define “play,” Snow King Mountain has you covered. Right next door to the hotel, Snow King Mountain offers exciting activities such as the Treetop Adventure Park, Cowboy Coaster, Alpine Slide, and Scenic Chairlift. You’ll find an astonishing array of activities to suit every member of the family. Be sure to check with our Concierge staff for the latest information on current activities.

SOME OF THE FINEST FLY FISHING IN THE WEST

From your  balcony you can look out over fabled Flat Creek fishery in the National  Elk Refuge, where trout are wily and plentiful. The convenience of our outfitting shop, a mere five-minute drive from our doors, cannot be overstated. Add that to our Concierge team, (hot-spots-of-the-month a specialty) and a close relationship with WorldCast Anglers (top guides in the West), and  you’ve got a fishing trip that satisfies all year long.

GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK

As Jackson's backyard, this magnificent place is no more than a twenty-minute drive north. From the entrance alongside the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center at the park’s entrance in Moose, a spectacular wilderness presents itself with expansive and tranquil lakes, beaver dams, secluded fishing holes and an array of wildlife that turns anyone into a photographer.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
Snow King Hotel and Grand View Lodge are proud to be in national park country. Yellowstone National Park is one of the nation's most beautiful and most alive treasure lands, with its many geologic and thermal features. Spanning 3,500 square miles at the junction of Wyoming, Idaho and Montana, the south entrance to the park is just an hour drive north of the Town of Jackson.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
THRILLING DOWNHILL TRAILS & LEISURELY PATHWAYS

Mountain Biking is action packed and a terrific way to explore Jackson Hole in the summertime. With miles upon miles of trails and bike parks, there is no limit to your options for biking enjoyment. And the town of Jackson is bike savvy, with Friends of Pathways bikeways that radiate across the Hole.

RAFTING
WILD & WET OR RELAXED & LEISURELY

You can go big or you can go placid. The waterways of the West offer a full menu of choices from a guided wildlife-viewing raft trip at sunset in Grand Teton National Park to whitewater thrills at Lunch Counter and Taco Hole on the Snake River.

An 8-mile whitewater trip down the Snake River is sure to make you at least a little wet but exhilarated, too. A scenic float at the base of the Tetons is more laid-back, but the wealth of wildlife along the river could leave you just as breathless. Either way, time on the water is sure to leave a lasting impression. Check with our Front Desk team or Concierge staff to secure reservations and directions.

HIKING - EXPLORE MORE

There’s a reason the locals always have on shorts and a hat. And that ubiquitous backpack? It holds hiking shoes or sandals, a water bottle and a rain jacket. Literally hundreds of trails crisscross the valley floor of Jackson Hole. Many are within easy walking distance and right outside the front entrance of Snow King Resort Hotel and Grand View Lodge. Grab your hiking shoes and snag a map, and you're on your way. Check with our Front Desk team or Concierge staff for directions to the trails of Snow King Mountain.

RODEO
WHERE THE WEST IS STILL WILD!

Brahma bulls, bucking broncos and a taste of the old West. Rodeo has been a part of Jackson Hole since the first settlers arrived, and no vacation to Jackson would be complete without experiencing the rodeo firsthand. Jackson’s rodeo grounds are a ten-minute walk from Snow King Hotel and Grand View Lodge, and the lassos fly every Wednesday and Saturday during the summer months.

PARAGLIDING IN PARADISE

Fly with the eagles when you strap in for a guided paragliding trip off the tip of Snow King Mountain. A few running steps and you are airborne, seated in a comfortable chair harness, free to enjoy the awesome scenery and refreshing mountain air. All Jackson Hole Paragliding Tandem Instructors are experienced mountain pilots with excellent safety records. Our instructors know which buttes are hot with thermals when.

NO ONE FORGETS THAT FIRST TASTE OF SNOW
IT’S A MAGICAL MOMENT

At Snow King Hotel there is a snow filled activity for everyone in the family. Skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, snow machining, snow tubing... anything snow related you can imagine. You can even ski the slopes at night, then warm up next to the fire with a hot cocoa.

With more annual snowfall than other resorts in the lower-48 Rocky Mountain region and endless things to do in Jackson Hole in the winter, the choice is easy to make Snow King your winter playground. You can be sure to find lifts, gondolas, an aerial tram, snow tubing, mountain coaster, nordic trails, sleigh rides, and unbeatable mountain views.

SKI RESORTS

SNOW KING MOUNTAIN - Directly outside the doors of Snow King Hotel is historic Snow King Mountain. A hub of activity for locals and visitors alike, Snow King Mountain has the steepest north-facing FIS racecourse in the lower 48, making for challenging terrain even for the seasoned skier. Nothing to fear though, a majority of the lower mountain is rated for beginner and intermediate abilities. Add in a snow-tubing park, snow biking trails, an alpine cowboy coaster, and an ice-climbing wall, and you have a full-service winter wonderland for the whole family. Be sure to catch the World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb each March.

JACKSON HOLE MOUNTAIN RESORT -  Steep and exciting terrain takes you from the 10,450-foot peak at Rendezvous Mountain to the base, four thousand feet below. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort boasts one of the longest and steepest vertical drops of any ski area in North America. After a ten-minute aerial tram trip to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain, you have your pick of runs to return to the resort's base at 6,311 feet. In operation from late November to April, there are eleven chairlifts, two gondolas and an aerial tram. The resort offers great restaurants and shops to meet all interests in a chalet-like setting. Snow King Resort Hotel provides a free shuttle to this ski area, 12 miles west of Jackson.

GRAND TARGHEE RESORT - Up and over Teton Pass and into Driggs, Idaho, the ‘Ghee, as it is commonly called, offers beginner-to-expert terrain across 76 trails on 2.600 acres in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. More than 500 inches of snow annually and a lack of lift lines, the ‘Ghee is paradise for skiers and snowboarders alike.

NORDIC SKIING
BLAZE YOUR OWN TRAIL

Groomed trails and snowy landscapes are abundant throughout Jackson Hole. The only thing that can make it better is when you spot a moose from your skis; that’s what we call a two-fer.
The area around Snow King Hotel and Grand View Lodge is custom-made for traveling by ski. The freedom provided through cross-country ski touring is just minutes outside your hotel room door. Ask our Front Desk team or Concierge staff for suggestions on best routes and rentals.

HELI SKIING

As if the flight weren’t enough, once you land, that mountain is yours. For those advanced and expert skiers, there’s nothing like hopping in a chopper and letting a guide take you to untrammeled snowfields.
With five mountain ranges surrounding the Hole, you’re sure to find an area you can call your own. Ask our Front Desk team or Concierge staff for assistance with reservations.

SNOW SHOEING
TAKE ON JACKSON'S TRAILS IN THE WINTER

Just dropped a foot of snow overnight? No worries. Strap on your snowshoes and you can make the most of your nature hike. It’s a whole new world when you explore the mountains and buttes on snowshoe. The winter world opens up in a way you’d never imagine if you didn’t witness it with your own eyes. Moose, deer, elk, marmots and fox might be feeding just around the bend (photography permitted from a distance).
Ask our Front Desk team or Concierge staff for assistance with rentals.

KING TUBES PARK
ONLY STYLE REQUIRED

Just when you thought you’d tried it all, suddenly you see someone laughing like a loon while sliding down a big bank of freshly packed snow on Snow King Mountain.
Snow tubing made easy through access with a rope tow and a smooth groomed run, it is a winter sport that is fun for all ages and requires no skill. Anyone over 42" can glide down the mountain on a tube at King Tubes. All tickets include tube rentals. Open when conditions permit.
