"Briggs gets spot in ski hall of fame". . .

October 22nd, 2008 by Journalist Brandon Zimmerman. Bill Briggs, the first person to ski the Grand Teton, established the Great American Ski School at Snow King Ski Area in 1967. Briggs was recently "inducted into the National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame for his pioneering first ski descent of the Grand Teton and teaching efforts." "Horses make return to Snow King-area trails". . .

June, 2008 by Journalist Michael Pearlman. Snow King brings horseback trail riding operation back to the mountain. Operated by JH Trail Rides, horseback trails cross over hiking and biking trails a few times, but generally stay on a horse designated trail that winds the lower part of Snow King Mountain. February, 2008 -- Adventure Sports Weekly shares a story about spending the weekend at Snow King Resort Hotel, skiing at The King and enjoying a huge race event. Jan 24, 2007 -- Kelsey Dayton encourages locals and visitors to enjoy Winter Carnival celebrations in Jackson, which include the first stage of the 12th Annual International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race, a torchlight parade, fireworks, and reception at Snow King. The race will run from Jackson Town Square to the base of Snow King Ski Area, before it moves on to other mountain towns, on its way to the final destination of Park City, Utah. Snow King: No More Smoking in Rooms . . .

Dec 28, 2006 -- Kelsey Dayton praises a new rule at Snow King Resort to ban smoking entirely from the hotel and resort. Already banned from the bar and a majority of the resort's grounds, Snow King has decided to turn its remaining 20 smoking rooms into Smoke-Free facilities. The Rocky Mountain Smoke Free Symposium will be held at Snow King in May to encourage businesses of Jackson Hole to go "Smoke Free." Read more local news from Jackson Hole News and Guide.

Finding Thrills on those Smaller Hills . . .

Dec 10, 2006 -- LA Times Article by Grace Lichtenstein enjoys skiing the smaller, less popular, ski areas of the west like Ski Cooper, Solitude, Snow King, and Pajarito. She finds that, although smaller, these under recognized ski areas are great for avoiding the crowds, saving a few bucks, and enjoying a local crowd. Lichtenstein enjoyed Jackson Hole's in town ski area, Snow King. Its "old-fashion" lifts take many a racing team to its summit to train on its steep terrain and it's central location make it easily accessible for folks who are staying in downtown Jackson. Ski Areas Fire Up Lifts . . .

Dec 6, 2006 -- Michael Pearlman describes the opening of local ski areas. Because of a dry beginning to the winter 2006/2007 season, Snow King made snow for 10 days in a row, 24 hours a day and was able to open the first Friday of December. Snow King is one of the only ski areas in the country that allows skiers and hikers to travel uphill while lifts are operating. Jackson's Other Mountain . . .

Claire Walter describes her enjoyable experience at Snow King, "Jackson's Other Mountain," located in downtown Jackson Hole. Walter skis "the King" on a weekday, joined by local office goers during their lunch break and by a flock of training ski racers after they get out of school in the afternoon. As Wyoming's first ski area, Snow King is not only a great training ground for racing teams, but it also offers beginner and intermediate skiers great terrain for improving their skills.
